Website Design & Development Process
We chat either on the phone or via email and get to know your business and what you would like to achieve with your website, any special functionality or features you would like, and the overall style and branding of your business.
In this step we will propose the overall layout (or “wireframe”) for the website. We’ll work with you to determine what goes where to create a pleasing and functional layout incorporating all of the features, sections, and calls to action that are to be included on the site.
Using all of the information you have provided so far plus the wireframe and layout decided upon in the previous step, we will work on and provide design mockups with different variations for color/graphics/etc. and present these to you for your review and feedback.
This step includes all the coding, programming, and all that other technical stuff. During this phase we will be coding the design to responsive HTML & CSS and actually building the website. This is typically the longest stage of the whole process.
In this phase we upload our coding & design to a sandbox account for testing and review. You will be able to test and troubleshoot the various features and functions of the site, as well as fine-tune the overall design.
Once the final payment is received, the new site is uploaded to your hosting account/shopping cart and can be launched if you are ready. Finalized design files for business cards, banners, or other graphics are also delivered at this time.

Projects are booked on a first come, first serve basis. If you’re ready to move forward and reserve a spot on our schedule, a $500 non-refundable retainer is collected. When we start your project, we will send you the contract for your review and signature, as well as an invoice for 50% of your project cost (less the $500 from your initial deposit). We recommend you first view our web design pricing and then contact us if you would like to get started.
The time frame for custom sites varies depending on the scope of the project, how much information is readily available by you when we start, and how available you are to answer emails and provide information & feedback. You should generally allow 2 to 4 months for your project to be completed.
We always do what we can to enable clients to be able to update their sites on their own. Sometimes, depending on the complexity of a website, it’s not always possible for a client to update everything themselves. For e-commerce sites, you will at the very least be able to add/manage products from within your admin.
You do not need to know HTML or buy any special software to do the basic operations of your site (i.e. adding/editing products, managing orders, etc.) We recommend getting on a monthly support plan to provide priority support and updates for at least the first 6 months after launching your site.
Unless you are on one of our monthly support or marketing/SEO plans, there are no additional/ongoing fees from us after the project is complete. The ongoing fees you will have in general for running a website will be for your web hosting & shopping cart, merchant account, and any apps/add-ons you opt to use. Those fees vary depending on which cart and web host you have chosen.
Nope! Most of our clients come from word of mouth or referrals from sites we have designed. This explains why many of our sites are in the same industry because clients find us through sites they like and have an interest in, and are similar to what they would like for their own site. We can design for any demographic, style, taste, or industry.
